South Schools Projects

Southwood Project Renderings

Southwood Jr/Sr High

Southwood Jr/Sr High will see lots of new enhancements over the next two years. A new athletic fieldhouse and wrestling room will be added. A Career and Technical Education (CTE) wing will be added. Renovations will also take place in the East Gym.

Southwood Elementary

Over the next two years, Southwood Elementary will receive extensive renovations and expansion. The expansion will provide a separate cafeteria space and a full gymnasium. and expanded classroom spaces and the parking lot. Renovations will include a secured office entry, updated bathrooms, enhanced HVAC, new carpeting, and more.

North Schools Projects

Northfield Elementary

Our north schools are also undergoing a big and exciting shift. During the summer of 2026, Sharp Creek Elementary will be torn down, and students will move into the brand new elementary wing of Northfield Jr/Sr High. This new addition will be Northfield Elementary and will house students in grades 3-5. Students in grade 6 will join Northfield Junior High.

Building Features

The addition has been added to the northwest side of Northfield and includes roughly 62,000 square feet of new building, with an additional 10,000 square feet of parking lot and outdoor elements. It will feature 16 new classrooms, Main Office, Student Commons, STEM/Robotics room, Severe/Profound classroom, and Nurses Station. 

The new elementary addition is two stories with audio reinforcement in classrooms. The entrance will go through the main office, offering the best design for school security. 

A new Activity Center, or fieldhouse, will be utilized by both the elementary and jr/sr high school students. This gymnasium space features three courts, a walking track, and a wrestling room. It will be used for student activities, PE classes, extracurricular activities, and various competitions.

Metro North Elementary

Metro North Elementary currently shares space for its cafeteria and gym. The expansion project is building a separate gymnasium space.

Locker Rooms & Weight Rooms Renovation

Locker rooms and weight rooms at Northfield and Southwood Jr/Sr High Schools have been completely renovated.
