Northfield Jr/Sr High and Sharp Creek Elementary were recently renewed by the Indiana Department of Education as 2021-2022 Family Friendly Schools.
Lyndsey Carter was announced as the 2021 Northfield Valedictorian, while Elise Gottschalk was named 2021 Salutatorian.
Braden Sweet was announced as the 2021 Southwood Valedictorian, while Maggie Ball was named 2021 Salutatorian.
Five Southwood High School students were selected to sing in the 2021 Indiana High
School All-State Honor Choir. Southwood High School will be represented by Katelyn Ranck, Isabel Davis, Isaac King, Cage DuBois, and Lyndzy Silvers.
For the first time, MSD of Wabash County will be offering a Summer Food Program. The program will provide weekly meals free of charge for children ages 1-18 throughout the MSDWC area.
Northfield students Keaton Stout, Clay Herring, and Ben Kissel first started looking into an entrepreneurship idea/program in Mr. Ryan Sincroft’s English class. Mr. Sincroft gave them the opportunity to participate in the program as an alternative to another project in his English class. Keaton, Clay, and Ben got to work brainstorming an idea.
Sabrina LeMaster, a science teacher at Northfield Jr/Sr High School, has been named one of three finalists for the 2020 AP Science Teacher of the Year by the University of Notre Dame’s Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program (AP-TIP).
Southwood teacher Mrs. Reena Markstahler has been named by the National Association of Biology Teachers as the 2020 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Indiana.
Early Learning Indiana recently awarded a $20,000 grant to Metro North Elementary School’s Little Norse Preschool. Little Norse will use the grant funds to support safety-related expenses and challenges as it continues to serve families in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
