Tony Uggen Named New Athletic Director of Northfield Jr/Sr High

MSD of Wabash County is pleased to announce the hiring of Tony Uggen as the new Athletic Director at Northfield Jr./Sr. High School.

Uggen brings more than three decades of experience in education, coaching, and athletic administration to the role, along with a deep connection to the Northfield community. A 1988 graduate of Taylor University, he earned his master's degree from Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) in 2000 and later obtained his principal's license through Indiana Wesleyan University.

Uggen began his career at Northfield in 1991, where he taught eighth-grade U.S. History for 12 years before serving as the school's Athletic Director from 2003 to 2013. He then spent nine years as Athletic Director at Blackford High School before transitioning into a semi-retired role as Blackford's athletic groundskeeper over the past four years.

Throughout his career, Uggen has built an impressive coaching resume. He has served as a head baseball coach since 1994, leading successful programs throughout his career, including at Northfield. He also served as Northfield's head football coach for four seasons and spent several years as an assistant football coach.

"I'm happy to be back at Northfield! I've always wanted to go full circle and finish my career working and coaching where it all started. I want to thank Mr. Snyder and his committee for giving me the opportunity to do that. Northfield has been very good for me. I am excited to get started, see some old friends, and meet some new ones. Looking forward to what the Norse can do this year, especially with all the new facilities we have available!" said Uggen.

As Athletic Director, Uggen hopes to continue building a positive culture that reflects the values of Northfield athletics. He envisions creating an exciting contest atmosphere where families, fans, and visiting opponents enjoy watching the Norse compete with class, demonstrate excellence on and off the field, and leave with a positive impression of the Northfield community.
